9 Top Tips For Taking Better Photos Of Your Children This Summer
Here is a useful blog: 9 Top Tips For Taking Better Photos Of Your Children This Summer. Getting photographs of our children altogether can be tricky when they just want to run around and have fun.
Local parks, woodlands and beaches are favourites with families to get some exercise and fresh air, therefore, they are great way to capture your children having fun without the pressure of looking at the camera and smiling!
Whether you are using a camera or your smartphone, when you look back at these images in 10 years time you will certainly be glad you captured these times while your children are growing.
My 9 Top Tips For You:
- Choose an area that is not in full sun, maybe dappled light, not too much green.
- Logs are perfect for little ones to sit on.
- Position the children so not many or no people are in the background
- At the beach, they can lie on their tummies in the sand so choose a quiet spot
- A little bribery doesn’t hurt, just don’t use chocolate as you don’t want that around their mouths in the photos!
- Get low when photographing little ones
- Get them to shout something silly…Stinky pants, smelly socks, stinky cheese!
- A battery-powered hand bubble gun will keep them looking up –Amazon have great ones.
- Blowing raspberries makes the babies smile every time
And some extra tips…things to take with you
- Camera/smartphone & charger for car just incase
- Neutral coloured tops – quick change when you are there
- Snacks to keep them topped up
- Plastic bags for them to sit on for a rainy day ( just tuck them under bottoms so you cant’ see them)
What’s The Best Time Of Day To Photograph?
In the Summertime choose either an early time up to 10 am or late afternoon after 4 pm.
When the sun is high in the sky everyone will be squinting and we won’t see those beautiful eyes of your little ones.
Golden Hour….A Photographers Dream……..
The IDEAL time to photograph is the beautiful GOLDEN HOUR…….ahhhhhhhhh! A photographer’s dream! An hour after the sunrises or an hour before it sets. Soft light is produced at this time due to the sun going through more of the earth’s atmosphere at this low angle.
It doesn’t have to be perfect….this is one of my all-time favourite photos of our girls!
I hope this has given you some good tips for photographing your own children this Summer.
