There’s something truly magical about this time of year – twinkling lights, the smell of cinnamon and mulled wine, and the sound of Christmas songs floating through the air.
As someone who loves capturing family moments, I can’t help but get excited when the Christmas markets return to Surrey and Hampshire.
Whether you’re on the hunt for unique gifts, want to take the children to visit father Christmas, fancy a festive day out with the family, or just want to soak up the atmosphere (and maybe sneak in a few mulled wines), here are some of my favourite local markets to explore this November & December.
Christmas Markets in Surrey
Christmas Guildford Farmers’ Market
Set along the beautiful cobbled High Street, Guildford’s market is always full of festive cheer. You’ll find handmade gifts, artisan treats, and glowing lights that make the whole town sparkle. Try the best of seasonal produce and ask questions about growing, rearing, manufacture and cooking methods. Enjoy the freshest meat, fish, cheese, eggs, fruit, vegetables and breads; sample our wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, baked goods, pickles, chutneys and herbs, plus organic produce, Farm BBQ, plants and local crafts.

Guildford Cathedral Christmas Fair
Held inside the stunning Guildford Cathedral, this fair boasts over 50 stalls with bespoke Christmas gifts and decorations. Explore the Cathedral Shop for unique Christmas gifts, and recharge at Seasons, our Café/Restaurant, where you can enjoy delicious drinks, snacks, and lunches.

Farnham Christmas Market
I always love visiting Farnham at Christmas – the market has such a lovely local feel. With independent stalls, delicious food, and the sound of carol singers, it’s a festive favourite for families. Wander through a wonderland of unique handmade gifts, delicious treats and the joyful sounds of live music, with over 150 stalls filling the town centre.

West Horsley Surrey Hills Christmas Arts & Artisan Market
Hosted at West Horsley Place (this is where Ghosts is filmed- we love it as a family), this market celebrates Surrey’s finest arts, crafts, and artisanal produce – perfect for festive shopping.

Godalming Christmas Festival Market
Experience the charm of Godalming’s market, full of local crafts, seasonal treats, and festive entertainment. A cosy spot for friends and families alike!

Kingston Christmas Market (just over the border!)
A short trip from Surrey, Kingston’s Christmas Market brings the magic of a traditional Alpine village right to the high street. Think wooden chalets, bratwurst, and sparkling lights. Wander around under twinkling fairy lights, enjoy a mug of mulled wine and choose from an assortment of delicious food to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Hampton Court Palace Festive Fayre
Set against the majestic backdrop of Hampton Court Palace, this market features over 100 festive stalls, live music, and an ice rink – a truly royal experience.

Hampshire’s Festive Favourites
Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market
Winchester really knows how to do Christmas! Often named one of the best markets in the country, it’s set against the stunning backdrop of the cathedral and full of local crafts, food, and festive fun.

Southampton Christmas Festival
Southampton’s market brings a little slice of Germany to the South Coast . Complete with traditional wooden huts, steaming mugs of Glühwein, and that unmistakable festive buzz.

Fleet Christmas Market
A community favourite in Fleet, this Christmas market features local vendors, seasonal goodies, and plenty of festive spirit.
